Final Memorial Plaques Installed at Greenhill Gardens Swansea

Remembering Over 4,200 People Buried on Site as Another Major Part of the Heritage Project is Completed

One of the final major pieces of Greenhill Gardens has now been completed and we are incredibly thankful to see it in place.

All memorial plaques have now been installed onto the habitat walls throughout Greenhill Gardens, helping honour and remember the more than 4,200 people known to be buried on the site.

This moment feels incredibly special to us.

What was once an overgrown and forgotten graveyard has become a place of remembrance, reflection, history, biodiversity and hope in the heart of Swansea. Over the last few years, volunteers, supporters, contractors, historians, funders and community members have all played a part in helping bring this vision to life.

The memorial plaques are a significant part of that journey.

Every name matters.
Every life mattered.
And this installation helps ensure those stories are not forgotten.

The habitat walls themselves have become one of the most talked about and distinctive features of Greenhill Gardens, blending heritage, nature and creativity together in a truly unique way. Now, with the memorial plaques fully installed, another important layer of dignity and remembrance has been added to the space.

We continue to be blown away by the response from visitors.

Families have already located loved ones through the project. Schools and community groups are exploring the history through our trails and resources. Visitors regularly stop to reflect, read names, and spend time in the gardens quietly.

Greenhill Gardens has become more than we ever imagined.
A place where the past is remembered while hope continues to grow for the future.

If you have not visited yet, we would love to welcome you.
