Nine fantastic supporters are currently training hard as they prepare to take on the Swansea Half Marathon in support of Matthew’s House.
This year’s team includes Alex, Libby, Robyn, Jake, Jack, Tasha, Lee, Thom and Tomos, all stepping up to raise awareness and support for the Matthew’s House showers and laundry project, helping people experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping across Swansea.
The Swansea Half Marathon has become one of the two major annual fundraising events for Matthew’s House, bringing together supporters from across the city to raise both vital funds and huge awareness for the work happening week in and week out.
Each runner has their own story and connection to the project.
Libby has been a long standing volunteer and fundraiser with a huge heart for people. Robyn is taking on the challenge alongside her as part of the same fundraising team.
Alex connected with Matthew’s House through company volunteer days and has developed a real passion for the mission and impact across the city.
Jake and Jack are a team in every sense, having supported Matthew’s House through Christmas Day volunteering and other practical support over the years.
Tasha is one of the newer volunteers already showing incredible determination and commitment, taking on the challenge by power walking the course.
Lee is one of the key Sunday volunteers at Matthew’s House, known for whipping up a storm in the kitchen while also carrying a genuine love for people and community.
Tomos, the youngest member of the team, has been volunteering with Matthew’s House since he was just 14 years old and continues to inspire people through his commitment and heart to serve others.
Thom, Project Leader at Matthew’s House, is currently carrying an injury but remains determined to complete the challenge and continue raising awareness for the mission of both Matthew’s House and The Hill Church.
With race day approaching quickly, the training miles are building, the legs are getting heavier, and the team are digging deep to keep going.
This year’s fundraising focus is helping provide something many people take for granted: access to showers, clean clothes, dignity and practical support during difficult seasons of life.
Every donation helps make a real difference.
