Swansea University Table Tennis Club Raises Funds and Awareness for Matthew’s House Across Swansea

Six Days, Six Locations, Hundreds of Conversations and New Connections to Support

At Matthew’s House Swansea, we love seeing creativity, community and compassion come together and over the last week, that happened brilliantly through a table tennis bat, a few tables, and a passionate team from Swansea University.

Led by Alain and the Swansea University Table Tennis Club, the team took table tennis right into the heart of the city, visiting six locations in six days across Swansea including busy public spaces like the Quadrant and Castle Gardens.

But this was always about more than sport.

It was about creating moments.
Moments where strangers stop and smile.
Moments where conversations begin.
Moments where awareness grows.
And moments where people find hope.

Through the challenge, the team raised an incredible £302.23 for Matthew’s House. But honestly, the money was only part of the impact.

One of the most special parts of the week was hearing that some people actually discovered Matthew’s House through the table tennis events and later came to us for support.

That is incredibly powerful to us.

A simple game leading someone toward community, encouragement and help when they needed it most.

Throughout the week, Swansea rallied around the challenge. People joined in, shared stories, encouraged the team and showed genuine warmth and support. One thing the group especially loved was seeing people who already knew Matthew’s House, or who had been supported by the project previously, stopping to cheer them on and encourage them as they travelled around the city.

It became a reminder of something we believe deeply at Matthew’s House.

Community matters.

When people come together with kindness, creativity and a desire to lift others up, beautiful things happen.

We are hugely thankful to Alain and everyone involved in Swansea University Table Tennis Club for the energy, encouragement and heart they brought into this challenge. Thank you for helping raise awareness, supporting our work and using sport to create connection across Swansea.

You have been brilliant. 💛
