Over the past few weeks, our team at Matthew’s House has had the absolute pleasure of visiting several local schools — sharing our heart for hope, community, and compassion with the next generation.
From the curious and caring minds of Year 1s and 2s at Ysgol Bryniago and year 8s at Gowerton School, to the thoughtful and engaging Year 8s–10s at Dylan Thomas School, it’s been a joy to open conversations around some of the most important issues in our city today.
Together, we explored:
-
What homelessness really looks like in Swansea
-
The impact of poor mental health, addiction, and loneliness
-
The dangers and root causes of housing insecurity
-
And how small acts of kindness can create lasting change
The response? Incredible.
These young people listened, asked questions, and really cared. It gives us great hope to know that so many are growing up with compassion in their hearts and a desire to make a difference.
We’re especially thankful that these schools are going even further including Pontybrenin primary who are all currently helping raise awareness, funds, and collections for our work. Their support means the world.
To all the pupils, staff, and school communities at Gowerton, Ysgol Bryniago, Pontybrenin primary and Dylan Thomas — thank you for inviting us in, for standing with us, and for becoming part of the Matthew’s House family.
Together, we’re shaping a kinder, more hopeful Swansea. 💛
