Awards and Recognition

The Queens award for Voluntary Service

An award equivalent to an MBE for volunteer groups and something we will cherish for a lifetime. Our volunteer family worked so hard after being nominated and with this Matthew’s House received a “once ever” special recognition with the award that recognised our impact during the Covid Pandemic.

It was then wonderful to send a few volunteers to a garden party in 2022, have a royal visit from Sophie, Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Edinburgh for a special day with our volunteers.

“Such a pleasure to come and see the amazing place you are creating. A really inspiring community. Thank you.”

Opening ceremony of the Senedd in Cardiff

In 2022 we were invited to be a support service at the opening ceremony of the Senedd in Cardiff. We join like minded and selected groups as the Queen, Prince Charles and Members came and. opened and enjoyed this ceremony. It was a great opportunity for the team to be recognised on a national stage once again for the work and delivery of Hope in Swansea.

“What overwhelmed me was the sense of hope which it gives people at a time when they have none. Not just to those who eat and meet there, but also those who go on to volunteer there. It’s a life-affirming project, which is helping those who need it most day in, day out.”
