Three Incredible Weeks of Volunteer Power for Greenhill Gardens

Over the past three weeks, Matthew’s House and Greenhill Gardens were buzzing with energy, effort, and community spirit as volunteers came together to help us complete one of the most hands-on phases of the Greenhill Gardens transformation.

From collecting materials, to preparing and stacking them into gabion habitat walls, to painting, sorting, and adding the final touches — it’s been a whirlwind of teamwork, sweat, and satisfaction!

These habitat walls are no small feat. Each one is carefully filled with donated stone, brick, wood, and tile — not just for function, but as a beautiful way of honouring the space and supporting future biodiversity. They’re a key part of our vision to turn this historic site into a vibrant, welcoming community green space.

🙌 A Special Shoutout to Our Final Week Volunteers

In our final push, we had the privilege of welcoming volunteer teams from Admiral, Dawsons, DVLA and Caredig — and they were absolutely super.

They brought energy, joy, elbow grease, and a real heart for the project. From lifting and hauling to meticulous stacking and careful painting, they helped us hit our final goals for the habitat walls and beyond.

We are incredibly thankful to every single person who gave up their time to help us during this huge effort — whether for an hour, a day, or a full shift in the sun.

🌿 It’s Not Just Building Walls — It’s Building Legacy

Every gabion wall filled is a small act of hope. Every painted panel, every stone placed, every splash of colour — it’s all part of the story we’re telling at Greenhill Gardens:
That this space still matters. That community can transform forgotten places.
That hospitality and hope go far beyond the four walls of a building.

To all our volunteers:
Thank you for being part of this chapter.
