Listening, Learning, and Loving It – Volunteer Feedback 2025

At Matthew’s House, volunteers aren’t just part of the story, you’re the reason it keeps going.

Earlier this year, we asked for your thoughts through our 2025 Volunteer Impact Survey. More than 55 of you took the time to respond (an even bigger turnout than 2023!), and your voices have helped shape what’s next.

We listened. We took it seriously. And because of you, we’re growing stronger.

💬 What You Told Us

  • 81% of you rated your enjoyment of volunteering at a full 5 out of 5

  • 87% said you’ve gained transferable life skills through your time here

  • The most common reason you volunteer? To help others — but closely followed by being part of a team and being part of something bigger

  • You also told us what could be improved… and we got to work

🌱 What’s Changed Because of You

Thanks to your honest feedback, we’ve already made some key improvements across the project, including:

✅ New tea pots to speed up service
✅ New sanitising stations around the café
✅ Raised awareness of Matthew’s House across Swansea
Protected WhatsApp groups to reduce message overload
✅ More accessible training opportunities
✅ Smarter process tweaks that make shifts run even smoother

We’ve printed off a snazzy leaflet summing it all up, grab a copy next time you’re in, or read the digital version below.

🙏 To Every Volunteer Who Took Part

Thank you. For your honesty. Your care. Your ideas. Your encouragement. And your time.

We’re a better project because of you, and we hope you feel heard, valued, and supported.

Let’s keep making this place the hope-giving machine it’s meant to be, for guests, for volunteers, and for the whole city.
