We’re incredibly proud to share that Matthew’s House has been named one of The Big Issue’s UK 100 Changemakers of 2025 — and even more thrilled to have received a special recognition award, chosen by Big Issue and Citroën, which included a full-year loan of a brand new electric van to support our work in Swansea!
The award honours the years of grassroots work, quiet service, and radical hospitality we’ve offered to those facing homelessness, vulnerability, and hardship in our city. Our volunteers and supporters are the real changemakers — and we’re so thankful for this national spotlight.
To celebrate, Big Issue and Citroën made a short video capturing a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes at Matthew’s House, and how this new van is helping us do even more.

“We’re a couple of months in and LOVING the wheels! We couldn’t be prouder to receive this recognition and bless our volunteers with a vehicle that helps us give hope more widely and more efficiently,” said Thom, Project Leader and Co-Founder. “Thanks to Big Issue, Citroën, and all who support us — this journey is bigger than us, and we’re so grateful to walk it together.”
The van has already been used to support events, transport donations, and increase the reach of our care across Swansea. It’s more than a vehicle — it’s a moving expression of kindness.
