Swans Big Sleep Out 2025

A Night of Courage, Community and Compassion**

The Swans Big Sleep Out returned to the Swansea.com Stadium on Friday 14 November and what a night it was. One hundred and ten people gathered to sleep out in the cold to stand with those who face homelessness, isolation and hardship in our city. Together, they helped raise over £45,800 and fundraising continues until 30 November.

It was cold, uncomfortable and for some, incredibly challenging. Yet it was powerful. People supported one another, looked out for each other and shared stories that reminded us why this night matters so much.

Some who took part had family members who had been through the doors of Matthew’s House and knew first hand the difference a warm meal, a listening ear or simple kindness can make. Others had been connected to the project for years. Some had gone through difficult seasons themselves. One volunteer, currently homeless, took part and wanted to raise money so that others could be helped too. Many joined simply because they wanted to make a difference. Every story carried weight, courage and heart.

This was also a special opportunity to learn more about the Swans Foundation and the incredible work they do with children, young people and families across Swansea. The partnership between Matthew’s House and the Foundation continues to grow, shaped by shared purpose and genuine care for the people of our city.

We were looked after brilliantly throughout the night by the Foundation team, with amazing support from sponsors, stewards and volunteers. A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped make the night happen, everyone who slept out and everyone who donated. Your support means more than you know.

A massive thank you also to Lee Trundle and Mal Pope, whose presence and encouragement once again lifted spirits and made the night even more memorable. And thank you to the Matthew’s House Choir who brought warmth, music and joy into such a cold space.

Emma Jones from the Swans Foundation summed it up beautifully in her message the next day, thanking the Matthew’s House team and volunteers for being welcoming, friendly and creating such a special atmosphere. We echo that gratitude right back to the Foundation for their heart, their partnership and everything they put into making this event a success.

This was a night of connection, courage and compassion. A night where people with completely different stories came together for one purpose. A night that reminds us why we do what we do. A very special moment for all of us at Matthew’s House.

Thank you again to every fundraiser, donor, sponsor, helper and supporter. You helped us smash our target and create real change for people who need it.
