Torsten Bell MP Visits Greenhill Gardens Project 🌿

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Torsten Bell MP to Matthew’s House for a personal visit and timely encouragement. As a friend to the project, Torsten came to see the progress being made on Greenhill Gardens — our heartfelt transformation of the former St Matthew’s Church graveyard into a respectful, vibrant community space.

His visit came at just the right moment, following a few weeks of challenges and stumbling blocks. But his support reminded us why we keep going — and that we’re not doing it alone.

“What an incredible project,” said Torsten.
“A big thanks to the team at Matthew’s House Swansea for showing me their work transforming the graveyard at St Matthew’s Church into a vibrant community garden. The work is being done with great respect for the cemetery and will make sure its legacy lives on, with gravestones set to be carefully stacked in sculpted form throughout the space. It’s a great and creative way to honour the history of the site.”

He also shared that he’s happy to continue supporting the project as we seek more help and funding to bring Greenhill Gardens to completion. That encouragement — means a lot to us.

Greenhill Gardens is set to open later this year. We believe it will be a place of peace, reflection, community, and legacy — a beautiful continuation of the story of Matthew’s House.
