🌱 From Rock Bottom to Rising Up

He’s a big lad. Been visiting Matthew’s House for years.

His story is one shaped by pain, regret, and survival. A life marked by mistakes, tough breaks, and, in recent years, the weight of loneliness, drinking, and a deep sense of lost purpose.

Not long ago, his mental health hit a dangerous low. Thoughts of suicide, of giving up altogether, became frighteningly familiar.

But through it all — we’ve been there. Not with all the answers, but with open arms. A place to be heard. A safe space to sit. A friend to talk to.

And now, for the first time in a long while, the light is beginning to break through.

He’s taken a big step — reaching out and speaking with mental health support services. 💬 He’s getting involved in activities like growing, allotments and cooking. He’s pushing through the fog. It’s not easy, but he’s doing it.

And the best part?
When he met one of our team who’s been alongside him for a long time, he smiled — a genuine, hard-earned smile — and said:

“I had to do something… and I’m looking forward to keeping going now.”

We’re rooting for him.
Rooting for better seasons.
Rooting for the future he’s just beginning to believe in.

Here’s to more moments like this — raw, brave, and full of hope. 💛
