One cold morning in early 2025, a long-time supporter—a local family-run business—visited as part of their regular contributions. They’ve been standing with us for over five years, offering a bespoke yet essential service that helps keep Matthew’s House running smoothly.
After completing their work that day, they handed over a bag filled with warm woolly hats and paused. Then, with quiet sincerity, they said:
“This is one of the reasons I help this place. Years ago, I needed support. I found myself on the streets, struggling through freezing nights. One of the things that made a difference was a simple bobble hat from here. It kept me warm. It kept me going. And that’s why I wanted to bring these today.”
For hundreds of years, the building we call home has been a place of peace, sanctuary, and support—through times of poverty, disease, war, and hardship in Swansea. Today, we continue that mission, not just through meals or shelter, but through small moments of kindness that leave a lasting impact.
Something as simple as a warm hat can mean the world to someone in need. It can bring comfort, warmth, and—most importantly—hope. And sometimes, those who once received return to give back, passing that kindness on to others.
